Santa Maria Endler Guppy
The Santa Maria Endler Guppy (Poecilia wingei) is a vibrant and eye-catching freshwater fish known for its striking coloration and lively behavior. A selectively bred variety of the Endler’s Livebearer, this species is small, typically growing to about 1 to 1.5 inches (2.5 to 3.8 cm), making it ideal for nano and small community aquariums.
Santa Maria Endlers are characterized by their bright, iridescent colors, featuring a deep black body with fiery orange or red highlights along the tail and dorsal fin. Males display these vivid colors more prominently, while females are more subdued in appearance.
These fish thrive in warm water, ideally between 72-82°F (22-28°C), and prefer a well-planted aquarium with plenty of space for swimming. They are peaceful and coexist well with other small, non-aggressive species, making them perfect for community tanks.
As omnivores, Santa Maria Endlers enjoy a varied diet of high-quality flakes, micro pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp and daphnia. Hardy and easy to care for, these guppies are a great choice for beginners and experienced aquarists alike, adding vivid color and movement to any aquarium.
