The Nothobranchius rachovii, commonly known as the Rachovii Killifish, is a breathtakingly colorful freshwater species admired for its vibrant appearance. Native to temporary ponds in Mozambique, this killifish typically grows to about 2 to 2.5 inches (5 to 6 cm) and is known for its short lifespan, adapted to seasonal environments.

Rachovii Killifish males are especially striking, featuring vivid red and electric blue bands across their bodies, making them one of the most eye-catching killifish species. Females are more subdued in color, often displaying a pale silver or brownish hue.

These fish thrive in slightly cooler water, ideally between 70-75°F (21-24°C), and prefer a soft substrate and plenty of hiding spots. Rachovii Killifish do best in species-specific or carefully chosen community tanks due to their unique requirements and peaceful temperament.

As carnivores, they enjoy a diet rich in live or frozen foods like bloodworms and daphnia. With proper care, Rachovii Killifish can live for about one year, during which they display their remarkable colors and dynamic behavior, adding a splash of beauty to freshwater aquariums.
