Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami
The Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami (Trichopodus truncatus) is a captivating freshwater fish known for its vibrant blue coloration and peaceful nature. Native to the shallow waters of Southeast Asia, particularly in Thailand and Cambodia, this species typically grows to about 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7.5 cm) in length.
Neon Blue Dwarf Gouramis are characterized by their stunning iridescent blue bodies, often adorned with vertical red or orange stripes, which become more pronounced in well-lit aquariums. Their rounded bodies and long, flowing fins add to their graceful appearance.
These gouramis thrive in warm, slightly acidic to neutral water conditions, ideally between 75-82°F (24-28°C), and prefer a well-planted tank with plenty of hiding spots. They are generally peaceful and can be kept in community tanks, although males can exhibit territorial behavior during breeding.
As omnivores, Neon Blue Dwarf Gouramis require a varied diet that includes high-quality flakes, pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods like brine shrimp and daphnia. With proper care, they can live up to 4-5 years, making them a beautiful and engaging addition to any freshwater aquarium.
