The Pea Puffer (Carinotetraodon travancoricus), also known as the Dwarf Puffer, is a small, freshwater fish known for its vibrant coloration and playful personality. Native to the freshwater rivers and streams of India, particularly in Kerala, this species typically grows to about 1 to 1.5 inches (2.5 to 4 cm), making it one of the smallest pufferfish available in the aquarium trade.

Pea Puffers are characterized by their round bodies, large eyes, and a variety of colors, often featuring shades of green, yellow, and brown with small spots. They are highly inquisitive and display interesting behaviors, making them popular among aquarium enthusiasts.

These puffers thrive in well-planted tanks with plenty of hiding spots and prefer slightly acidic to neutral water conditions, with temperatures between 75-82°F (24-28°C). While they can be kept in small groups, it's essential to monitor their interactions, as they can be territorial, especially during breeding.

Pea Puffers are carnivorous and require a diet rich in live or frozen foods, such as daphnia, bloodworms, and small snails. With proper care, they can live for 3-5 years, providing a lively and engaging presence in a freshwater aquarium.
